About the Designer
Dandreia Bethel
Dandreia Bethel, a Bahamian designer and creator of the brand Dandreia, was born with the ability to create. She was skilled and gifted with her hands. She recognized her gift for art and studied it earning her degree in 2006. Although she was talented, one of her greatest struggles was confidence. Growing up with severe eczema, she developed a lot of scars and suffered from consistent flairs that led to a subconscious timidity that did not reflect who she truly was, or maximize her ability.
After receiving her degree in Art, her desire was to build on a career using her art skills, in her field of expertise. During this journey, while she was conflicted with fear, she knew this was where she was meant to be. After much thought and prayer in 2007 when she was inspired by her aunt to pursue shoe designing, she knew this was her destined purpose.
How could someone so timid go after a dream that seemed impossible with no road maps or paths outlined ahead of her? The confidence of purpose and destiny gave Dandreia the courage to move out of her comfort zone and the safety net of the familiar, to travel and study in Milan, Italy the art of shoe designing and its craftsmanship in 2011. Following her studies, she was determined to design and sell her own brand of leather goods. For a period of 11 years, 2008 – 2019 and a series of trial and error she searched for a quality craftsman to produce her designs.
Had she not courageously accepted the call of destiny, and leaned on the confidence of the purpose giver, her finely crafted leather designs, which she calls "symbols of courage and confidence” would not exist.
In November of 2019, she launched her first shoe collection where products were on display and available for sale. Today the journey of courage and confidence continues.
These designs, “symbols of courage and confidence”, has expanded to include shoes, handbags and belts, are sold in store at The Craft Cottage on Mondays and Tuesdays, and available for sale on our website at www.dandreiadesigns.com.
We know all too well the feeling of the pain, seeming failure and defeat along the journey of success. However, we also knows that with consistency, diligence, faith, and determination you will achieve your dream.
